Palazzo Strozzi is going to host an important exhibition that will celebrate and commemorate Galileo Galilei and his extraordinary life.
This exhibition will describe the Galileo’s scientific journey : the vision of the Cosmos from ancient time until the Scientific Revolution through maps of the heavens, drawings, scientific instruments, paintings, sculptures and precious illuminated manuscripts from the world’s most prestigious museums and libraries. Everything is valid to understand the historical time line that marked his life and his studies.
An important aim of the exhibition is to focus on aspects of astral sciences that have had a direct impact on the hopes and fears of man. In a special section devoted to the invention of the telescope, Galileo’s sole surviving telescope will be on display.
